Job Description: Power Plant Mechanical Technician
The Power Plant Mechanical Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery. With a strong focus on mechanical systems, this position requires expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining power plant machinery to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The Power Plant Mechanical Technician will collaborate closely with the engineering and operations teams to address mechanical issues promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical equipment, including turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, valves, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks to identify and resolve mechanical issues, applying appropriate methodologies and tools.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks according to established schedules and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance and make recommendations for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding mechanical issues and maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment records, and repair reports.
- Comply with all safety guidelines and regulations, adhering to established protocols for personal and equipment safety.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in power plant mechanical systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Power Plant Mechanical Technician or similar role, preferably within an energy and utilities industry.
- In-depth knowledge of power plant mechanical systems, including turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, valves, and auxiliary systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
